Aiming for a “dance-type feel with country elements,” Cooper self-produced the high-energy track, adding the funk with a catchy slap bass verse, a reverb chorus and incorporating a traditional country fiddle line that blazes through the latter half of the song.
The head-over-heels narrator swoons over the object of his affection in this sultry track. He’s “steady as a heartbeat” in this infectious tune, reminding listeners that good guys still exist. He’s smitten and unafraid to show it, honoring her in the best way he knows how.
Written by Matt Cooper alongside Rose Falcon, and Brian Bunn, “Wonder” was inspired by Cooper’s wife, his muse in music and in his everyday life.
“Wonder’ is about my wife, Charis. It’s about the fact that when I’m out on the road, she never has to wonder where my eyes are – she knows right where my heart is. That kind of trust is rare, and I wanted the song to feel the way that trust feels -- steady, honest, and sure of itself,” says Cooper.
Named a 2026 Taste of Country RISER: Artist to Watch” and a Spotify “Fresh Find,” Cooper’s thoughtful lyrics and dynamic songs continue to resonate with listeners worldwide. Cooper’s personal essay, “Healing Through Grief,” detailing the story that inspired his viral hit “Highs & Lows” is featured in the September/ October 2026 issue of American Songwriter.
Last night, the fast-rising star performed for a packed crowd at Audacy Live at Hard Rock Cafe Nashville. Next up, Cooper performs at the 2026 WRNS Guitar Pull at The Maxwell Center in Greensboro, North Carolina on November 9 as well as a full band performance as part of the 2nd Annual Quartz Hill Music Group Takeover at Chief’s on Broadway in downtown Nashville on Monday, November 16. The Takeover event is free and open to the public until full capacity is reached. Find more information and to reserve tickets HERE.
