Genre-Blending Matt Cooper Releases Bluesy Country-Pop Slow Jam, ‘Dancing with the Devil’
Cooper Was Inspired to Write the Soulful Track After Meeting His Now Fiancée
Rising Star’s Life-Affirming Debut Single, 'Highs & Lows,’ Continues to Climb the Charts at U.S. Country Radio
NASHVILLE, TN (Jan. 16, 2026) – Genre-blending QHMG / Quartz Hill Records artist Matt Cooper today released “Dancing with the Devil,” a sultry slow jam about the redemptive power of finding the right partner.
Fusing blues and country pop with rock swagger, the modern old-school soul song keeps its production naked and sparse, driven by bluesy guitar, backbeat drums, and Hammond-style organ.

“‘Dancing with the Devil’ is a song I love because it’s about how I met my fiancée,” says Cooper. “Before I met her, I thought these other things that were bad for me were making me happy, but then all that junk I’d been dancing with was gone and she made me a better man.”
Cooper penned “Dancing with the Devil” alongside Ben Wagner (Wyatt Flores’s “Running Out of Time”), Michael Lotten (Dustin Lynch’s Gold-certified “Momma’s House”), and the track’s producer, Brooks Huntley. The seductive lyric cheekily suggests that the right dancing partner might be the only salvation you’ll need to escape from your vices:
I been dancing with the devil
Had my heart for ransom
Then a rebel stole my baby blues
Now baby the truth
Dancing with the devil’s got nothing on dancing with you
“Highs & Lows,” Cooper’s life-affirming debut single on Quartz Hill Records, has earned more than 11 million streams to date, and skyrocketed to become the No. 1 Most Added Song at U.S Country Radio (Mediabase) out-of-the-box. The single remained a Top 10 Most Added Song for eight non-consecutive weeks, earning airplay from coast to coast, and continues to climb the charts. Cooper has amassed 1.7 million social media followers, with 27 million likes on TikTok alone.
Recently signed to WME, Cooper began 2026 by opening a sold-out New Year’s Eve show for Jelly Roll in Las Vegas. His upcoming shows include 99.5 The Wolf’s “Hot Country Nights” in Portland, Oregon, tomorrow night (Jan. 17), 99.5 WYCD’s “Ten Man Jam” in Detroit on Feb. 12, and opening for Kameron Marlowe in Chicago on Feb. 25.
